Life in the Theatre

These past two weeks have been super busy with productions at school, so I apologize for not posting in what feels like forever! Last week after class I was in rehearsals every night for our Music Theatre program’s dance showcase. For the show I was one of the two Live Mix Operators.

It was my first experience on an Audio crew for any production, so I was extremely nervous!  Luckily everyone I worked with was kind and supportive.

That weekend we held the performances, and on closing night myself and the other audio crew member dismantled the show (in theatre terms, we striked) in preparation for our upcoming Mainstage production.

All departments are working long hours to finish everything before opening night. I am in charge of the Production Audio , which is the sound effects.  Most of my time outside of class is spent in the studio recording vocalists and musicians, as well as editing sound clips.  I’ve never done any sound recording before, so the entire process has been a learning curve for me. It can be very frustrating at times, but I’m slowly learning!

Anyways, that’s what I’ve been up to lately!
I promise to post something new soon.  Take care!

  1. Kelly;
    Day after day, your writing style, presentation style achieving new heights.
    Till today, I have read almost all the post, this is the most I like; because;
    This is the line, simply touched me;
    “I’ve never done any sound recording before, so the entire process has been a learning curve for me. It can be very frustrating at times, but I’m slowly learning”!
    Believe me no matter how far we go, learning is unending process not in blogging or sound recording but each and every sphere of life.
    Thanks, for granting my wish to publish new post; I know very well, how much busy you are, so, don’t worry, I will wait for few more days!
    Still, I have not decided; but; I am thinking something big for you!
    Life is quiet unpredictable, Isn’t it?
